Orange Nut Bread

2 T. Shortening 1 t. baking powder
1-cup honey½ t. salt
1 well-beaten egg¼ t. soda
1 t. orange rind3/4 C. orange juice
2 1/2 C. flour3/4 C. chopped nuts

Instructions

Cream Shortening and add honey slowly. Beat well, add egg and orange rind. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda together.
Add alternately to the honey mix with orange juice.
Stir in chopped nuts.
Place in a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 325 degrees for 11/2 hours.
Cool, wrap, and store. Slices better the second day
