Danish Apple Bars

2 1/2 C. flour1 C. corn flakes
1 t. salt10 apples pared and sliced
1/2 C. shortening1 C. sugar
1/2 C. margarine1 t. Cinnamon
1 egg - separated , put white aside1 C. powdered sugar
milk3-4 t. milk

Instructions

Combine flour and salt.
Cut in shortening and margarine
Put 1 egg yolk in measuring cup adding enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid, mix well and stir into flour mix. Roll half of the dough into a 17-inch rectangle. Fit into and up sides of a 15 ½ by 10 ½ inch pan.
Sprinkle corn flakes on top of dough.
Top with apples.
Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.
Roll out remaining dough and place over top.
Seal edges and cut slits in dough.
Beat egg white until frothy and brush on top of dough.
Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
Combine powdered sugar and milk and drizzle over warm pastry.
